Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki and third baseman Martin Prado are returning to the Miami Marlins.
The team announced Wednesday that it had exercised its 2017 option on Suzuki and re-signed Prado to a three-year deal through 2019. Both players will be entering their third seasons with the Marlins.
Suzuki, 42, reached 3,000 hits this season, becoming the 30th player in major league history to do so, and finished with 3,030 hits. He also hit .291 in 143 games.
Suzuki is 25th on the all-time hits list. He also had 1,278 hits in nine seasons of professional baseball in Japan.
Prado, 32, set a franchise record this season, hitting .424 against left-handed pitchers, .305 overall. He finished three hits shy of his career high of 186, and hit 37 doubles, his most since hitting 42 in 2012. He also had 75 RBI.
Terms of Prado's contract weren't announced, but a source had previously told ESPN's Jim Bowden that his three-year contract is worth $40 million.
Also on Wednesday, the Marlins confirmed that they'd fired hitting coach Barry Bonds, third base coach Lenny Harris and bullpen coach Reid Cornelius.
