RIO DE JANEIRO -- Justin Rose made a hole-in-one at the par-3 fourth hole on Thursday, the first ace of the men's Olympic golf tournament.
The eagle on the 189-yard hole put the Team Great Britain member at 3 under early in his round and on the first page of the leaderboard.
Rose, the 2013 U.S. Open champion who is ranked 12th in the world, used a 7-iron and waited as his shot bounced about 10 feet short of the hole and then rolled into the cup.
Playing alongside American Rickie Fowler and Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas, Rose raised his hands in triumph upon realizing the ball disappeared into the hole
