No. 38 Temple Gibbs picks Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish has landed ESPN 60 junior Temple Gibbs, sources told ESPN.com.

Gibbs, a 6-foot-2 guard from Seton Hall Prep (N.J.), made his decision following a visit to the South Bend campus this weekend.

Ranked No. 38 in the 2016 class, Gibbs chose the Fighting Irish over the likes of Oklahoma, Georgetown and Providence, although he held offers from numerous high-major programs.

Gibbs can play both guard positions, and has greatly improved his point guard skills since his high school career began. The younger brother of recent Seton Hall transfer Sterling Gibbs, he is averaging 13.6 points and 2.6 assists on the Nike EYBL circuit so far this spring.

Gibbs is Notre Dame's first pledge for the class of 2016. With a guard now in the fold, expect the Fighting Irish to focus on the frontcourt moving forward.

Their biggest big man targets include Jarrett Allen (No. 37), Marques Bolden (No. 19) and Javin Montgomery-DeLaurier, while Mike Brey and staff are also among the schools that have gotten in the mix with 6-foot-5 shooter Kevin Huerter.
