YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Marcus Ottey set career highs with 29 points and four 3-pointers, Tai Odiase added 17 points and blocked five shots to set a Horizon League record, and UIC hit a season-high 14 3-pointers in beating Youngstown State 92-78 on Thursday night.
Odiase recorded his 310th block, setting a school record and eclipsing Horizon League record holder Damian Eargle (309 blocks) of Youngstown State (2010-13).
Tarkus Ferguson and Godwin Boahen scored 14 points apiece and Ferguson had 10 rebounds for the Flames (9-11, 4-3 Horizon League), who shot 50 percent from the floor and scored 24 points off of 13 Penguins turnovers.
The Penguins briefly took a 63-61 lead on Braun Hartfield's layup with 10:57 to play, but UIC pulled ahead on a 6-0 run and led 86-75 with 1:39 left after Boahen hit the Flames' 14 3-pointer.
Odiase blocked his fourth shot and dunked at the other end for a 39-31 UIC lead and the Flames led 46-43 at halftime after hitting nine 3-pointers and shooting 56 percent from behind the arc.
Braun Hartfield scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Devin Haygood added 13 points, and Bohannon added 12 for the Penguins (5-15, 3-4), who have lost four straight. Garrett Covington scored 11 points and Cameron Morse 10.
