Reports: White Sox reach minor league deal with Geovany Soto

The Chicago White Soxhave added a veteran to their 2017 catching mix.Geovany Sotoagreed to terms on a minor league deal Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Soto has a chance to make the Opening Day roster;Omar Narvaez and Kevan Smithare the only other catchers on the team with major league experience.

Soto spent last season with the Los Angeles Angels, appearing in 26 games and hitting .269 with 4 home runs and 9 RBIs.

Soto also played for the White Sox in 2015. He is a .246 career hitter and solid defender.

Soto was the National League Rookie of the Year and an All-Star in 2008 with the Chicago Cubs.
