WASHINGTON -- Veteran left-hander Rich Hill will start for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Washington Nationals in the decisive Game 5 of the NL Division Series.
The Dodgers made the announcement Thursday morning less than nine hours before the scheduled 8:08 p.m. ET first pitch.
Hill getting the start on short rest is not surprising. Manager Dave Roberts said it's fair to expect a combination of the 36-year-old Hill and young lefty Julio Urias.
The Nationals beat Hill in Game 2, as he allowed four runs on six hits in 4 innings. Hill, who has dealt with blister problems, has never pitched on three days' rest after a start.
Cy Young Award candidate and 20-game winner Max Scherzer starts on regular rest for Washington.
