CHICAGO -- A day after trading shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and right-hander LaTroy Hawkins to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Colorado Rockies called up relievers Aaron Laffey and Justin Miller from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday along with shortstop Cristhian Adames.
To make room on the 25-man roster the Rockies sent right-hander Miguel Castro -- obtained in the trade with the Blue Jays -- to Albuquerque.
Laffey, a left-hander, is 1-0 with an 11.57 ERA in 2 1/3 innings this season and will be used to protect a Rockies bullpen that has gotten a lot of work of late, manager Walt Weiss said before Tuesday night's game with the Chicago Cubs. Miller, a right-hander, is 1-0 this season with a 1.29 ERA with six strikeouts in seven innings.
