Ohio Stateplans to add former Nebraskaoffensive coordinator Tim Beck to its coaching staff after the College Football Playoff National Championship Presented by AT&T, a source told ESPN.
Beck is expected to replace former Buckeyes offensive coordinator Tom Herman, who will become Houston's head coach.
Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach is a likely title for Beck, according to the source.
Beck has held the positions of running backs coach, quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator since joining Nebraska in 2008.
Beck has coached several star offensive players at Nebraska, including Ameer Abdullah, Rex Burkhead, Taylor Martinez and Kenny Bell.
Ohio State and Nebraska have had two of the most successful offenses in the Big Ten over the last few years, with both programs operating versatile versions of the spread offense.
Beck has also coached at Kansas Stateand Kansas.
When Beck was Kansas' passing game coordinator in 2007, the team finished with a 12-1 record. Kansas finished the year second nationally in scoring offense (42.8 ppg), eighth in total offense (479.8 ypg) and 17th in passing (291.0 ypg).
As a former high school coach in Texas, Beck also has strong recruiting ties in the state.
