Stranger helps blind Cubs fan hail a cab amid postgame chaos

Any true sports fan would agree: The moments that occur off the field, after the game, or behind the scenes -- when no one else is (seemingly) looking -- help to make sports wonderful.

Such a moment occurred over the weekend after a Chicago Cubs game. Outside Wrigley Field, Cubs fans flooded the streets as they made their way home or to their next destinations. Among them wasYusef Dale, who is visually impaired and was having difficulty hailing a cab amid all the noise and chaos.

That's whenCasey Spellman, a complete stranger, offered to lend a hand. She helped Dale hail a cab, all the while not knowing that her selfless deed was being documented.

Ryan Hamilton, who was visiting Chicago from Indianapolis, was sitting in a rooftop restaurant across the street when he saw Spellman helping Dale. Hamilton took several pictures and posted them to his Facebook page -- a post that has since accumulated over 32,000 likes.

"She did not presume I was incompetent or unable," Dale told Chicago's WGN-TV. "She didn't get in my personal space, and most importantly, she didn't touch me, which is an issue for some people with disabilities."

Dale works as an assistant U.S. attorney in Chicago. He admits that he does not usually ask for help, but in this case he was happy to make the exception.

"It was one of those rare occasions I needed help," he told WGN-TV. "The power of social media is amazing. You fully appreciate it when you are fully impacted by it."
