The reigning World Series champs made several trades ahead of Monday's deadline. With the additions of lefty reliever Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avilafrom the Detroit Tigers, the Chicago Cubs bolstered their roster to make a run at defending their title. Those moves followed the earlier acquisition of lefty starter Jose Quintana from the Chicago White Sox.
Wilson, 29, has beendominant for the Tigers this season with 13 saves and a fastball averaging 96 miles per hour.
How would you grade the Cubs' additions?
Adding Quintana has already paid dividends. He has gone 2-1 in three starts with a 2.37 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 19 innings.
