White Sox catcher Alex Avila heading to DL with hamstring injury

CHICAGO --White Soxcatcher Alex Avilaexited Tuesday night's game against the New York Yankees with a right hamstring strain.

After the game, manager Robin Ventura said Avila will be placed on the disabled list.

Avila was replaced by Dioner Navarro before the start of the sixth inning. Avila went 1-for-2 with a double in the second inning.

The team said Avila will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.
