DETROIT -- Chicago White Sox rookie Tim Anderson has left Thursday's game at Detroit in the first inning with a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch.
X-rays were negative.
Anderson was leading off the game when he was hit by Jordan Zimmermann's pitch. He was able to stay in initially and eventually came around to score a run, but he was removed when the White Sox took the field. Second baseman Tyler Saladino moved over to replace Anderson at shortstop, and Carlos Sanchez went in to play second.
Anderson is hitting .264 with five home runs and 12 RBI since being called up from the minors in June.
