CHICAGO (WLS) -- The southbound lanes on North Lake Shore Drive are back open Tuesday morning after a CTA bus fire near North Avenue.
However, two of the lanes now appear to be undergoing ice cleanup by the Chicago Department of Transportation, which is slowing traffic.
A #147 CTA bus got a flat tire near LaSalle Drive and pulled over to let passengers off just south of North Avenue at about 5:45 a.m. Officials said the bus then caught fire and was fully engulfed at one point.
Emergency crews had the fire under control as of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, but the crash cleanup took about three hours to complete.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
