Man killed in Dunes Highway crash in Gary

GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- A man is dead after his SUV crossed into a median and crashed into an oncoming truck near Gary, Ind., police said.

The victim, Cheron Bates, was heading east on U.S. 20 near I-65 around 6 a.m. Wednesday when the accident occurred, police said.

Bates was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. The other driver was also injured.
