Vehicle strikes 2 squad cars on SB I-355 near Boughton Road

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- A car struck two Illinois State Police squad cars on the southbound Veteran Memorial Tollway (I-355) near Boughton Road in Bolingbrook in a crash involving two other vehicles.

Illinois State troopers stopped to investigate a three-vehicle crash on southbound I-355 just north of the I-55 exit around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, when both cars were hit.

There was one officer in each squad car at the time of the crash, but neither was hurt. One person sustained minor injuries in the five-vehicle crash.

Police reduced the four-lane tollway to one lane as they investigated the crash, causing significant delays. There was also a significant gapers delay on northbound I-355 near Boughton Road.

All lanes were re-opened by 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.
