American Airlines ad blames fliers for travel woes

As families get ready to travel for the holiday weekend, a new American Airlines ad is raising some eyebrows. It's saying don't blame us for your travel troubles - it's you, the flier, who may be responsible.

Long TSA lines? Short tempers? Shrinking leg room? Expanding baggage fees?

Now in this brand new ad campaign, American Airlines tells us what makes a good passenger: "they walk faster in airports", "they know their mood contributes to the mood of the flight" and "they pack like they're doing a jigsaw."

Are they blaming us for the pain we feel when flying? Comments under the ad on YouTube include: "American's marketing team needs to be fired" and "this is so backwards."

GMA reports that American Airlines ranks lowest in the country for on time arrivals and only average, but climbing, for customer satisfaction.

There's a lot of video of passengers gone wild that does kind of back the American Airlines plea for passengers to mind their behavior.

But, still, remember... the next time you hear a baby scream, apparently you're just a bad passenger because you don't "always bring noise canceling headphones."

American Airlines said it is not telling passengers how to behave, but hopes the new ad campaign will start a conversation.
