CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago is enjoying an unusually warm and foggy December Saturday, but the spring- like break is not expected to last too much longer, with some big changes ahead in the next couple of days.
Maggie Daley Park is celebrating its one year anniversary and few could have asked for a better day to come out and enjoy it, and hundreds did, including a Boy Scout troop from North Aurora.
"Ironically, the last time we went camping we had 12 inches of snow," said Scoutmaster Tom Brooks. "We should have traded weekends."
Judging by how most people dressed Saturday, many without even a coat, it would be easy to think it was October 12, not December 12.
"We work downtown and this is the first time in December to have no hat, gloves, jacket or anything, or layers even," said Radhi Reddy.
Dozens waited for the Zamboni to do its thing, which takes about an hour. No one was complaining, though. As it turns out, sitting around outdoors in December isn't such a bad thing.
"It's great to be here and do this, but we were hoping for a little winter charm," said Janice O'Flaherty. "But it's nice to be out here and warm."
