Severe thunderstorms across the Chicago area caused minor damage, power outages, and a ground stop at Midway and major delays at O'Hare airport.

The National Weather Service also said that even in areas where there is no longer a severe thunderstorm warning, gusty winds up to 50 mph and torrential rain are still possible with these storms.

The Bureau of Forestry within the Department of Streets and Sanitation said there are currently approximately 124 open tree emergency requests citywide, with most of them coming from the northeast side as well as possible requests from Beverly.
