Round Lake restaurant, homes destroyed

ROUND LAKE, Ill. (WLS) -- No one was injured, but several homes and a longtime pizza restaurant were damaged.

Jen McCue started as a teenage employee at The Pizza Place and worked her way up to owner. On Sunday night, the storms tore the roof off of her restaurant and smashed most of its interior.

No one inside was hurt.

"I felt the wind, I hung on to the steering wheel, I turned around and saw the roof off of my building," McCue said. "Wood can be replaced. Buildings can be replaced. Lives can't. We're very, very lucky."

Local businesses are already offering to help McCue rebuild. Several homes in Round Lake were also damaged.
