Chicago shooting: 15-year-old boy shot, seriously injured in Bronzeville, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A teen boy was seriously injured in Wednesday afternoon shooting in the city's South Side, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the Bronzeville neighborhood near South Dearborn Street and West Root Street just before 3:40 p.m. Chopper 7HD was over the scene.

A 15-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk when an SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the back, police said. The teen was transported to Comer Children's Hospital in serious condition.

No one is in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.

Officials did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
