The storms brought heavy rain, with even some small hail reported in Orland Park.
The storms have also led to ground stops at both O'Hare and Midway airports, which were subsequently lifted.
Storms moved out in the late morning and early afternoon hours, and a cold front is moving in.
Storms are firing up downstate and there is a tornado watch in central and southern Illinois.
