On Tuesday, rain will spread throughout the area as the day goes on. In the far northwest suburbs, temperatures may be below freezing, creating some slick spots.
A strong cold front will arrive Wednesday morning, and rain will change to snow.
There could be some wind-whipped snow showers during the morning commute.

This would reduce visibility and create a quick coating to 1 inch of snow on the roads.
Wind gusts could be up to 40 mph, with temperatures dropping into the 20s.
Thursday will be cold, with temperatures in the 20s.
A clipper system may hit the area Thursday night into Friday morning, producing some snow.
Several inches of snow are possible Saturday, as well.
Bitter cold is expected Saturday and Sunday.
