Mayor Brandon Johnson and Gov. JB Pritzker are laying out their bid to DNC leadership to bring the convention back.
"The pitch is going to be: 'We did it beautifully, seamlessly once. We can do it again,'" ABC7 Chicago political analyst Laura Washington said.
The official launch video, which was released Monday morning, repositions Chicago as the place to host the 2028 and 2032 DNCs.
Monday's site visit included meetings to discuss Chicago's readiness as a host city.

The city is coming off the success of the 2024 DNC, which will likely be a key part of the bid.
According to Choose Chicago, the 2024 DNC generated $371 million for the local economy.
That's the single largest economic impact in the history of the convention.
"It would be an opportunity for them not to only, to showcase their popular former president, but also to showcase the city and to showcase the home of the most popular president," Washington said.
Crews could be seen sprucing up the United Center, which would once again be the host site for the convention.
Members of the DNC will visit there Tuesday morning.
They will also enjoy view of the city from 360 Chicago atop the 875 N. Michigan Ave. building formerly known as the Hancock Center.
DNC leadership is attending a special visit to the Obama Presidential Center Monday.
And they will take an architectural boat tour of the city as part of their visit.
The 2028 Democratic National Convention will be held Aug. 7 to 10.
Other cities in consideration include Atlanta, Boston, Denver and Philadelphia.
While it is unusual for cities to win back-to-back bids in recent years, Chicago has done it several times in the past with both Republican and Democratic conventions. It has been 70 years since the last time it happened
"And so we exceeded expectations. And once again, we showed Chicago is a world-class city. We have a dual-hub airport; we have plenty of cultural institutions, hotels, restaurants. And we know how to throw a big party. And so we can do it again in 2028," said Jack Lavin, president and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
Lavin said he will be attending the reception and dinner, as will Johnson and Pritzker.
Pritzker could be even more of a factor for 2028 than he was in 2024 because he is considered a likely presidential candidate.
"JB Pritzker is going to help and support the Democratic Party with his billions no matter what city is chosen. So I think that they don't have to worry about that. Of course, if they do choose Chicago and JB Pritzker ends up being the nominee, that's a win win for the party and for everybody in the party," Washington said.
The committee has already visited all but Boston.
"Why we would be a better fit than some of the other blue state contenders is that no one's done a better job of growing a Democratic majority than Illinois over the last several cycles," Northwestern political science professor Alvin Tillery said. "I mean it used to be, in the olden days, there was this logic that you go to a swing state, or a purple state, and you try to make a big show of it. But people don't watch conventions in that way anymore. What we get more is kind of packaged content coming out of the conventions, and I think Chicago is a perfect backdrop for that."

It's not clear when the DNC will decide on the host city.
