Chicago submits bids to host DNC again in 2028 and 2032: Sources

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago has submitted a pair of bids seeking to host the Democratic National Conventions in 2028 and 2032, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the move.

Chicago successfully hosted the 2024 convention, and now has officially taken steps to bring the DNC back for possibly the next two presidential election cycles.

ABC7 was told the Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's office and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's office put a working team together a couple of months ago to explore the possibility. The bids were officially placed Jan. 9.

The Democratic National Committee asked the Chicago Host Committee to submit bids for both 2028 and 2032, but the latter convention is seen by some insiders are more feasible for the city.

Other cities also reportedly interested in hosting conventions those years include Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Las Vegas and San Antonio.
