CHICAGO (WLS) -- More snow is expected Thursday into Friday in the Chicago area, ABC7 Chicago meteorologist Larry Mowry said.

He issued an AccuWeather Alert due to possible slick spots during the morning rush because of snow and temperatures in the 20s.

Snow arrives late Thursday, Mowry said.

One to 3 inches of snow are possible; most areas will end up with 1 or 2 inches.

More snow showers are possible during the day Friday.

It will be a very cold weekend, with the chance of snow showers each day.

For the Bears game, temperatures will be in the teens with windchills down around zero.

Bands of lake-effect snow moved through northwest Indiana Wednesday and Thursday, leaving some accumulation.

The lake-effect bands also caused poor visibility.

Drivers will be on alert for any snow squalls.

Wednesday, 30 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes on the Indiana Toll road near Elkhart, Indiana. It was snowing heavily at the time and visibility was limited.

Several people were taken to hospitals. Everyone is expected to recover.
