Chicago honors late children's music pioneer Ella Jenkins with street sign

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An honorary street sign unveiling was held Sunday for the "First Lady of Children's Music" on Chicago's North Side.

"Ella Jenkins Way" now stands at the corner of North Mohawk Street and West Wisconsin Street in the city's 43rd Ward.



People gathered to pay tribute to the children's music pioneer's life and legacy.

Jenkins' music career spanned more than 60 years.



She recorded more than 40 albums, won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award and has work in the Library of Congress.

Jenkins died last year at the age of 100.
