CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two streets in Chicago were renamed on Thursday to honor two public servants.

Fallen CPD Officer Ella French

Fallen Chicago Police Officer Ella French received an honorary street sign in her name on the city's Southwest Side.

Thursday marked four years since she was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop.

Her street naming ceremony took place Thursday afternoon outside the Leighton Criminal Courthouse at 26th and California.

Mayor Brandon Johnson was attendance for the afternoon ceremony.

Honorary 'Dr. Dennis Deer Way'

The late Cook County Commissioner Dennis Deer was honored with a street renaming ceremony Thursday in Homan Square.

On Thursday morning, family and the community gathered to celebrate the life of late Cook County Commissioner Dennis Deer.

Deer represented the county's second district.

The street is located at Saint Louis and Arthington, near the Homan Square Community Center.

Mayor Johnson also attended the Thursday morning ceremony.

Deer died last year, he was 51. His family previously said he underwent a double lung transplant.
