Suspect Jerell Thomas was expected to be arraigned on Friday morning.
He was brought into the courtroom in a wheelchair.
Thomas was injured in a shootout with police back in November.
His case was transferred to a different court.

Bodycam video of the shooting is expected to be released next week.
Police say in late November, officers approached Thomas after they saw him leave a bank with a gun.
Thomas opened fire, critically injuring Reddins, who died hours later.
Thomas faces charges, including first-degree murder.
