CHICAGO (WLS) -- Video showing the confrontation that led to the murder of Chicago Police Officer Ella French was released Wednesday.

It's been nearly five years since French and her CPD partner, Carlos Yanez, were shot during a traffic stop in West Englewood.

The body-worn camera video was released following a Freedom of Information Act request.

The video, which was blurred by police, shows the officers search a vehicle that brothers Emonte and Eric Morgan were in.

Eventually, Eric Morgan ran from Officer French, who then went back to help Officer Yanez as he struggled with Emonte Morgan. That led to the deadly confrontation.

ABC7 froze the video the moment before the shots were fired that killed French and seriously wounded Yanez.

Emonte Morgan was found guilty of murder. Eric Morgan pleaded guilty to his role in the shooting.
