Man, 28, fatally shot in Gary

GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- A 28-year-old man died after he was shot in Gary, Ind.

The Lake County coroner's office identified the victim as Jeffery Cruz, of the 1400-block of West 19th Avenue. The shooting occurred on the same block.

He was taken to Methodist Northlake Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 11:45 p.m. Monday.

The coroner's office classified Cruz's death as a homicide.
