HARVEY, Ill. (WLS) -- Harvey Mayor Eric Kellogg is under fire after an audit claims he used federal grant money to buy an SUV.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the suburb was awarded the money to buy two new police cars. Instead, Kellogg bought a $51,000 Chevy Tahoe.

A spokesman for the mayor says the report is politically-motivated.

He also says Kellogg is a part-time police officer at a neighboring department and his new truck is being used to "deter crime."
