A Chicago apartment complex that was once home to such people as Gwendolyn Brooks, Nat King Cole and Quincy Jones is about to be renovated.

Ground was broken Wednesday on the Rosenwald Apartments in the Bronzeville community.

The Rosenwald was constructed in 1929 to provide affordable housing for working class African Americans.
