CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 2-year-old girl who was kidnapped from her grandmother's home on Wednesday morning has now been found safe, police said.

The girl was missing for hours after being taken from a home in the 4800-block of South Michigan Avenue at about 4:50 a.m., Chicago police said.

She was later located and found safe, Illinois State Police said. Police have not released any details of where the girl was located and if anyone has been arrested.

The girl's grandmother told ABC7 Chicago that the 2-year-old's mother broke into the home, took the girl and stole her 2021 gray Nissan Kicks.

"They put a gun to my sister and my brother's head. About four guys, the mother of the child and they basically just came in and took her," she said. "They all had on mask. My brother said he saw her; she had on a mask. But he can tell it was her. You cannot mistake a person; so, it was her."

Authorities said an Amber Alert was not issued because the incident appeared to be domestic.

Police said a known-woman and two other men forced their way into a house with guns.

Police confirmed that three suspects abducted a 2-year-old girl, stole a gray Nissan hatchback and took other things from the apartment.

The girl's grandmother said they stole items from the family's garden apartment, including her purse, house keys, some important papers and her 9-year-old daughter's phone.

No other injuries were reported.

Wednesday afternoon, Chicago police warned of the danger and issued a community alert.

Illinois State Police also issued an endangered person advisory. It was later canceled when ISP shared an update that the girl was found safe.

CPD's Special Victims Unit joined the investigation.

Family members were beside themselves with worry, and just want the child to be returned safe.

"I'm just really not trying to lose my mind right now," the grandmother said. "She's kidnapped, and they did make threats to come back."

She said she received a ransom note by email, saying she's taken care of the 2-year-old since she was born and simply wants her to be found safe so she can bring her back home.
