Alcohol involved in wrong-way LSD crash, police say

Wrong way crash on lake Shore Drive, 4 injured, 2 critical

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police say alcohol appears to have played a role in the wrong-way crash on Lake Shore Drive that left four people injured, two critically, and closed northbound lanes near Randolph for two and a half hours. Charges are currently pending.


Police say a black Subaru SUV crossed the median and struck a cab carrying two passengers head-on around 2 a.m. Friday morning between Monroe and Randolph Streets. The cab has extensive front-end damage.

The two passengers in the cab, a 27-year-old woman and a 25-year old man, were taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition. The cab driver of was also taken to Northwestern Hospital, while the driver of the SUV was transported to Stroger Hospital. Both drivers are in stable condition.
