Man sentenced for shooting west suburban cop, robbing tobacco shop

LOMBARD, Ill. (WLS) -- A man who shot a Lombard police officer will spend decades in prison.

Anthony Brown pleaded guilty earlier this year to the shooting and an armed robbery.

In December 2022, Brown and another man robbed a tobacco shop at gunpoint.

Then, during an encounter with police as they ran, Brown shot at officers.

Police returned fire, killing the other man.

The officer shot by Brown was hit in the leg and survived.

Brown was sentenced to 33 years in prison for the shooting and 21 years for the robbery.
