Best time to buy holiday flights is now

October is a great time to start booking plane tickets for the holidays.

Now through next Monday, Oct. 12, Orbitz says it is the best time to buy fares for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve.

The magic numbers this year are 6, 9 and 10, as in October 6th, 9th and 10th to save on your holiday airline tickets.

Experts predict Thanksgiving flights will be at their lowest price on Tuesday, Christmas flights will be at their lowest point on Friday and New Year's flights will be lowest on Saturday.
