
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Blue Island man pleaded guilty to battering several people in Chicago and Evanston over the last few weeks, court documents show.
Derek Rucker, 37, was charged with aggravated battery of a transit employee or passenger, aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated battery of a peace officer in the incidents.
Rucker was arrested shortly after hitting a 44-year-old woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground in the 500-block of North State Street, police said.

He's also charged in connection with other aggravated battery incidents, including an incident in the 4600-block of North Broadway involving a 40-year-old woman; on Sept. 30 in the 1200-block of West Loyola Avenue involving a 23-year-old woman; on Sept. 30 in the 300-block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston involving an off-duty police officer; and on Sept. 21 in the 900-block of West Belmont Avenue involving a 27-year-old woman, police said.
On Wednesday, Rucker plead guilty to separate counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer; aggravated battery in a public place; aggravated battery to transit employee; and two counts of burglary.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison on each count, all to be served concurrently.
