Brandon Mumme, 43, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault for allegedly threatening minors.

The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m., the minors told police they were riding electric scooters through the parking lot of Clinton Elementary School in the 700 block of Mill Street.

They said a driver pulled into the parking lot, cut them off and was followed by an argument, police said.

The minors told police they later came back to take a photo of the license plate when Mumme came out of the building.

The school district said Mumme was part of the evening cleaning crew at the school for the contracted company HES. He was not an employee for the district.

Mumme then allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and threatened the minors.

The minors ran off and called 911.

Mumme was arrested near his vehicle. Police said he allegedly admitted to pulling out the knife and chasing the minors.

He now faces charges for aggravated assault on public property and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Mumme has been prohibited from entering any School District U-46 property.
