CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating ATM burglaries at businesses in Jefferson Park Friday morning.
Surveillance video from Six Penny Bit in the 5800-block of West Montrose Avenue shows several carrying out the machine.
Chicago police said at about 3:50 a.m. three male suspects broke through the front door, stole the ATM and then fled in a white vehicle
The owner Ronnie Birt said the theft is unfortunately a sign of the times in Chicago.
"Unfortunately, we don't have enough police in this neighborhood and this is free-for-all for everybody to come in and break into businesses around this neighborhood," Birt said. "It has been happening multiple times. You can look up the facts and everybody has been broken in."
At about the same time, burglars struck in the 5500-block of North Milwaukee Avenue.
Police said two male suspects broke the front window of the business, stole an ATM and then fled northbound in a white SUV.
Area Five detectives are investigating both burglaries. Police have not said if they are related.
