2 shot, including 14-year-old boy, in South Shore: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 14-year-old boy and a 31-year-old man were wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood Wednesday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting occurred at about 11:38 p.m. in the 7000-block of South Paxton Avenue.

Police said a 31-year-old victim told them he was involved in a verbal altercation with three others.

A male suspect took out a gun and fired at the 31-year-old man, hitting him in the thigh, police said. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was in fair condition.

One of the three people, a 14-year-old boy, was also struck in the chest by gunfire, police said. He was transported to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

No one is in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.
