CHICAGO -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Thursday morning, Chicago police said.
The shooting took place at about 12:30 a.m. in the 4300-block of South Ashland Avenue.
Police said the teen was standing outside when three male suspects approached and one took out a gun and shot the teen.
The 17-year-old was shot several times and transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The suspects fled the scene, police said. Area One detectives are investigating.
