Driver struck after getting out of car on Dan Ryan Expressway: ISP

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A motorist was struck after getting out of their vehicle on the Dan Ryan Expressway Tuesday morning, Illinois State Police said.

The incident occurred in the outbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway near 95th Street.

The incident started as a crash involving a passenger vehicle that was struck by another vehicle which fled the scene, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck stepped out of the vehicle and was struck by another vehicle, police said.

The person that was struck and the driver that struck the driver were both transported to the hospital with injuries, police said.

Police had blocked southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan before later reopening.
