CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago is bringing in a former U.S. Attorney to review the city's law department.

Dan Webb will review the procedures and practices of the Federal Civil Rights Litigation Division that defends police officers. The investigation comes after a judge accused a city attorney of hiding evidence in a lawsuit over a deadly police shooting.

Webb served as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois from 1981 to 1985.

The city is paying him $295 an hour.
