$1K reward offered after hit-and-run driver kills teen girl on scooter

CHICAGO (WLS) -- ABC7 is hearing from the mother of a teenager killed in a South Side hit-and-run last month for the first time.

Violet Harris, 15, died after being hit by a car near East 77th Street and South Exchange Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood on March 21.

Cook County Crime Stoppers handed out flyers in that area on Tuesday, looking for anyone with information on the driver.

Harris' mother says she is both heartbroken and angry.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
