Video shows South Side gas station crash-and-grab burglary

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Crash-and-grab thieves stole an ATM from a gas station on the South Side Tuesday morning, a clerk said.

The clerk said it occurred at about 4:45 a.m. in the 4300-block of South State Street.

Employees were inside the store when thieves used a Jeep to ram through the business, the clerk said.

The thieves stole an ATM and then fled in a getaway car, leaving the Jeep at the scene, the clerk said.

The crash caused major damage to the store with front bricks missing, windows broken and the frame bent.

The clerk said no one inside the gas station was hurt.
