Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley says his doctors told him if he has one more drink he will die.

Whibley writes on his website he has been in the hospital for the past month because his years of hard boozing have caught up to him. He recalls pouring himself a drink and passing out, then waking up in the intensive care unit. Whibley says his fiancee had him rushed to the hospital.

"(I) was stuck with needles and i.v.'s all over. i was completely sedated the FIRST WEEK. when i finally woke up the next day i had no idea where i was. my mum and step dad were standing over me. i was so freaked out. my liver and kidney's collapsed on me. needless to say it scared me straight," Whibley wrote in a blog post Friday.

Whibley, 34, says he never thought he'd say it, but, "Just always drink responsibly. I didn't, and look where that got me."

Whibley's website says he was an only child to a single teenage mother and has never met his father. Whibley and his friends formed Sum 41 in Ontario, Canada, in 1996. He was married to singer Avril Lavigne from 2006-2010. Lavigne, 29, also of Ontario, married Nickelback singer Chad Kroger in 2013.

Sum 41 released a string of albums from 2000-2007, with their first major label full-length "All Killer, No Filler" propelling them to national success. The band last released an album in 2011.
