Des Plaines condo fire that injured 8 ruled to be arson, authorities say

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- Investigators have determined thar a fire in a Des Plaines condo building last May was arson, authorities said Thursday.

Eight people, including four children, were taken to hospitals after a reported explosion. Dozens more were displaced.

It happened about 1 a.m. May 6 in the 1200-block of Harding Avenue in Des Plaines.

Authorities plan to release further details at a news conference Thursday.
