Driver smashes into NW Side beauty salon before fleeing, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are looking for the driver who crashed an SUV into a beauty salon and ran off in the Portage Park neighborhood Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at about 11:29 p.m. in the 4800-block of Montrose Avenue.

Video shows the gray SUV partially inside the heavily damaged business.

Police said they don't believe this was a crash-and-grab but they are calling it a hit-and-run.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
