ELMHURST, Ill. (WLS) -- Video has been released of apparent would-be burglars early Wednesday morning in the west suburbs.

About four unlocked cars in the area were burglarized, police said.

A similar incident in suburban Morton Grove led to shots being fired Wednesday morning.

The sedan was later seen driving quickly on eastbound Interstate 290, police said. It matched the description of a vehicle recently stolen in Chicago, police said.

The car was found abandoned on Chicago's South Side.

Elmhurst police reminded residents to lock their car doors and remove any valuables from vehicles.
