Bomb threat under investigation at Evanston hospital after suspicious package found: police

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Evanston police are investigating a bomb threat at Endeavor Health Evanston Hospital Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded just after 5 p.m. to the reported bomb threat at 2650 Ridge Ave.

Police found a suspicious package with wires sticking out of it outside the building, officials said.

Evanston fire crews deployed a drone, and the Cook County Bomb Squad responded. Surrounding areas were evacuated, police said.

Officers were able to remove that package, and the hospital says it did not pose a danger.

Hospital officials said there is no immediate threat, and the facility remains open.

They said about 7:30 p.m. that the situation had been cleared.

No one was injured.
